Part 4

After the First World War, the University of Iasi underwent an evident evolution. The difficulties faced by the town of Iasi, who had become the main center of the Romanian resistance, temporarily hindered the normal activity of the university, yet, they could not arrest its progress. The laws of 1932, 1937 and 1939 - leaving aside certain objectives pursued by the ruling circles - favored modern development and the continuous diversification of studies.

In 1933, the sub-section of agricultural learning, then within the section of applied sciences, changed into the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. The two other branches of the section, namely: electro-technical education and technological chemistry were reorganized in 1937, within the "Gh. Asachi" Polytechnic Institute of Iasi to which the Faculty of Agricultural Studies was added one year later (1938).

Between 1938-1939, the four faculties: Philosophy and Letters, Sciences, to which the section of Geography, Law and Medicine was added in 1918, were subject to diversification and to a judicious distribution of sections, departments and disciplines.

From the point of view of its organization, the University of Iasi reached at that time the level of similar European institutions. It was not only a source for disseminating culture generously, but also a bulwark of social progress and democracy in continuous struggle for promoting the major interests of the Romanian people.
