A few good months behind other companies, the Taiwanese producer Abit has
launched it's motherboard for the Intel Pentium 4 processors. The delay is justified
by some characteristics which make this motherboard an ideal working platform
for a professional.
The motherboard is constructed with care, a characteristic style of Abit.
The initial setup of the motherboard allows the configuring of all the parameters
in the Bios. If required, a setup options through jumpers and dip-switch is
also possible. All the settings are conveniently placed on the same corner of
the motherboard.
For those who want to experience different configurations and to try using
the processor at other values than the default ones, an extremely useful feature
are the two mini-buttons which allow the start up/shut down and reset of the
system without the need to connect the buttons on the frontal panel of the system.
In case your experiments don't have a happy ending, there is a led display which
shows the status of the system during POST (Power On Self Test), like a diagnose
card. The codes displayed are documented in the manual and allow for the rapid
identification of the cause of a malfunction. The only difference from the advanced
server diagnose systems is the lack of a diagnose application for the different
components of the system, which is partially supplied by two led indicators
for power and hard disk functioning.
All the features of the motherboard and the stable behavior during all our
tests justify the Abit reputation and recommend this motherboard to all users.
It has received the maximum number of points.
