University scientific research is focused both on fundamental and applied research, on inter and pluri disciplinary character in all scientific branches belonging to the domains of the University.

Research centers of our University include The Marine Biology Research Unit of Agigea and The Biological Research Unit of Potoci.

Every year the University organises academic activity for the teaching staff, researchers and undergraduates, especially on "University Days", taking place in October, arround the celebration of St. Dimitrie, who is the spiritual patron of this cultural foundation.

These are also occasional symposia and debates devoted to personalities and issues of Romanian and world culture.

Each faculty has also research groups composed by academic staff, young researchers and gifted students.
