At present the University of Iasi has 14 faculties with 20 domains ensuring the necessary training for over 40 fields of specialization: teachers for all subjects, lawyers, economists, computer scientists, geological engineers, ecologists and priests (four years of study).

15 colleges have recently been founded, with various specializations. Full-time courses in these colleges last for three years.

The main form of activity for all faculties are lectures, seminars, laboratory work, practical pedagogical work and scientific research. In the near future the psychopedagogical formation of the future teachers will be done through the Pedagogical Seminar, an institution that is going to be back in use in order to give the unitary training for future specialists.

The University of Iasi provides postgraduate programmes in different fields such as law, economics, computer science and foreign languages. The faculties with pedagogic profiles ensure refresher courses for high school staff in several Moldavian counties.
