The present building of the University, dominating the area of Copou Hill, came into use in 1897, and a new wing as well as other buildings have joined it since then. Several research institutes and units, indispensable to the instructive process, have appeared in the meantime:

The Marine Biology Research Unit of Agigea (at the Black Sea),
The Biological Research Unit of Potoci (in the Carpathian Mountains) [picture]
The "Al. I. Cuza" University has 9 buildings containing 11 specialized libraries and 15 reading rooms. Beginning with 1974, the University came into the possession of a Duplication Centre able to cover didactic requirements, and since 1990 the University has had its own publishing house and printing press.
